I recently had several vacation rental cleaning video suggestions pop up on YouTube.
I’ve done approximately 200 vacation rental cleanings in the past. Most of those were done when I owned the property management business.
That money earned by cleaning vacation rentals was excellent. The work was sometimes strenuous. There’s no such thing as a free lunch, I guess.
The videos I saw made outrageous claims about the money to be made by cleaning vacation rentals.
For example, one video I saw mentioned they had 100 vacation homes they cleaned and because of this made $1,000,000 year gross income. Click bait? Yes, probably.
Let’s look at more realistic vacation rental cleaning numbers.
Suppose you had 25 vacation rentals your business cleaned 3 times per month each. Let’s also say that each cleaning paid $125 (very low estimate). That is 75 cleanings a month at $125 = $9375/month gross income. If your expenses were 70% of the gross income, then your take home would be about $2,812 before income taxes. Not too shabby.
Now quadruple that to 100 rentals. That’s $11,248/month net income. I could live on that.
I live in St George, Utah. There are probably thousands of vacation rentals here. There’s no reason I couldn’t carve out a hundred or more of these homes for my business to clean.
I don’t know where you live or what your town is like regarding how many vacation rentals there are available to clean.
This can be part of your business, even if you live in a small town in the boonies. If you live in a large city or a vacation destination like I do, all you need are vacation rental cleanings.
